Tteddo Designs E-mail Overview

E-Mail Client Instructions
General Overview:
For advanced users, the following information is what you need to recieve and send e-mail using our servers (replace "yourdomain" with your domain!):
Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com
Username: Your full e-mail address
Password: Your password
Outgoing Mail Server: We recommend using your ISP's outgoing mail server, but if that's not possible, use mail.yourdomain.com. We authenticate outgoing mail (to help prevent spam), so you have to check that off in your client, to provide your username and password to send.
Note: In some clients it is necessary to use "%" instead of "@".

Please see the table to the right for client specific instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between a Username and Mailbox?
A: Your Username is the beginning part of your e-mail address. Every E-mailbox has a unique e-mail address and a password associated with it to check mail. An e-mail address is composed of a Username, followed by an '@' and domain name. For example, consider the e-mail address ReverendJim@tteddo.com. "ReverendJim" is the Username and "ReverendJim@tteddo.com" is the e-mail address.

Q: How do I check my e-mail?
A: The easiest way to do this, which requires no configuration at all, is to launch a browser and take advantage of our browser based mail located at http://mail.yourdomain.com (replace "yourdomain" with your domain). You will be required to enter your full e-mail address and password. This actually allows access to your mail right on the mail server! It is especially handy for travelling, where all you have access to is a browser. Note: There is generally a 5 MB limit on mail you can store on our server.

Q: I would rather use a mail program on my computer so that I can save as many messages as I want. What mail client should I use?
A: Any popular mail program you prefer. Some of the most popular programs include Eudora, Outlook Express, Outlook, and Netscape Mail.

Q: What is the difference between me checking my e-mail using a browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape versus using one of the mail clients, such as Eudora?
A:

EMail via a browser Mail Client on my computer
All your mail is stored on our servers (30 MB limit) Your mail is downloaded from our servers to your own computer
Once you have filled your disk quota, you must delete old messages and/or attachments before you can get new mail You can store as many messages and attachments as your own computer can hold
You can check your e-mail from anyone's computer via any Internet connection without having to configure anything While you can use the mail available via the browser to check your when you are away from your computer, if you have used any special features of your mail client (i.e. your address book in Outlook or Eudora), you'd have to be at your own computer to utilize these features you have set up on your own computer inside your mail client.

Q: Can I use my own e-mail client AND check my mail via a browser when I am away from my computer?
A: Sure! Although you can use both, we recommend that you choose a preferred/primary method to avoid losing track of your mail.

Q: How do I choose which method is best for me?
A: Your primary method of checking e-mail should best fit your lifestyle. For example, if you travel a lot and don't like to take a laptop everywhere you go, checking your e-mail via a browser is your best way to check e-mail. On the other hand, if you like to save all your messages and mostly check/read/compose your mail when you are at home, then perhaps you should configure your own mail client on your own computer, so you'll never have to worry about disk space, since all your mail is stored on your computer.
